Greetings,
I read the suggested rules on airbases. This would be quite a change to how the airwar is handled!!! However after 30 years of playing it with the old rules I guess that I have just gotten use to it. The current abstract air rules do make the game go quicker since you are not spending so much time moving air units. If I could make any changes to the air rules this is what I would like to do:
#1) Change the airfront boundries. Make it so they are a bit more realisitic. Sadly the CWiE II editor will not allow for this?

#2) Change the airfront boundries and add two addtional Air Fronts. The 4th airfront is called the "North Front". The "North Front" would be Scotland, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Soviet territory next to Finland. The 5th Airfront would be the "Middle East Air Front" which would be Egypt, Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Trans-Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Palestine & Cyprus.
The "West Front" would now have Ireland, England, France, Switzerland, Belgium, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany & the protectorate of Bohemia/Moravia.
The "South Front" has French North Africa, Libya, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Yugoslavia, Albania, Bulgaria, Greece, Crete, Malta & Gibraltar
The "East Front" is the USSR, Rumania, Hungary, Poland, Baltic States, East Prussia, Pommerania, Silesia & Slovakia
Instead of trying to completly overhaul the games air war system the two extra air fronts and the re-adjustment of the exisitng fronts would at least make it a bit more realistic without changing things too much. What do you think of this? I realize that the editor will not allow you to make new air fronts but will it allow you to change the exisiting ones?
Lastly, I would like to ask a question concerning strategic bombing. What would you figure was the average monthly percentage loss to German production as a result of Allied Strategic bombing? So far my research has produced figures between 9% and up to 20%. In CWiE II terms this would mean that between 2x and no more than 4x manufacturning/resource centers are unavailable per cycle on average. What do you think of this? Should their be some limit on how many centers can be knocked out in a cycle to match the historical losses? This would prevent some of the absurd results that I have obtained in the past as a result of bombings. The most ridiculous being that strategic bombing alone can cause eventual Axis economic collapse with little if any ground action. I would be interested to hear what you have to say about this?
Sincerely, J.M.
