Actually...

It is quite likely that the list is largely unknown to most of the new
brigade...

Apart from mention in Grognards...

Thus it is probable that those who find thelist are several stages removed
from the average newbie...

Those that find the list are those who have been doing some degree of
rooting around to see what else is out there after sampling the forum.

That however, is a commercial decision from decision games...

One cannot argue with that choice on their part...it is entirely their
prerogative

Part of the root cause of this is possibly the equivocal attitude that the
list, historically, has taken over DG's plans and approach to this product
and others. Whilst it speaks volumes for the independence of the gathering
here, we mustn't be surprised at the feeling in the DG camp that they
wanted something more supportive and dedicated to their product when they were
launching it. Launching any new product is inherently risky, and one cannot
criticise their taking all necessary (in their eyes) steps to encourage and
safeguard its reputation with new customers at its launch.

Those who frequent the forum will see that the forum is not a dedicated
service designed to discuss War in Europe , but rather is a more generalised
media to discuss all DGs products, and current movements in the DG
universe...

After all the fuss dies down (as with many releases) then the forum will
stand or fall through the quality of its contributors...as doesthe list.

I have seen this happen on other lists, where similar commercial pressures
cause fractures between the organisation and those that provide linksto
their discussion groups...

So, moments of low activity, are only to be expected, especially with such
upheavals as we have been subject to...

As time goes by, no doubt, a new equilibrium will establish itself....
