Whew, this hit some raw nerves here. It will be good when we can stop
talking and start fighting.

So do the Germans always lose? Really?

I have only played WiE as a beta tester for CWIE2, never under the old DOS
version or in BWiE. In all frankness I played a bunch of SPI WW2 solo in the
70s and owned WitE then and played it solo a few times, but really cut my
teeth in man to man combat on Hexwar, where I played some 1,000 games in less
than 2 years from 2005 to 2007 and was very successful. So I'll be open on my
lack or experience on WiE. But both times I played (with all options checked) I
was able to do well as Germans.

In one game I was able to pull off Sea Lion, plunder lots of production
points, and drive deep and early into Russia. The game ended in July 1941 due to
technical issues. Though the Brits would have driven me out by July 1941 as
all my surfs and trans were attrited down. But I am sure I would have knocked
Russia out in 1942.

In the other game, I did not try Sea Lion because the option was really not
working properly then, but instead was able to take Malta and drive the Allies
out of North Afrika and Palestine by spring 1941. Then when I went into
Russia with all the MSUs and RRs I was able build and seized Moscow, only to lose
it back in Winter 1941. I retook it in Summer 1942 and by fall 1942 when I
launched a belated Sea Lion and had the Russians on the ropes, the Allied
player called it quits.

Perhaps when the game comes into production I will get some unpleasant doses
of defeat from some of you fine gents.

Carl
