The number of R-R heads is important...but more important is the basic
conversion rate limitation.
What really matters is how quickly youcan get how deeply into the heart
of the Soviet territory.

It is all about getting to grips with the bear, and mauling it,
mauling it enough to keep on denying it territory and resources ro
prevent its recovery,
a recovery that will eventually eat you alive.

If you cannot achieve that, then the number of rail heads is a vital
palliative,
backing you with a supplied main line of resistance far enough away from
German vital areas
to allow you to trade some space for time,
stopping the steamroller from getting underway too close to home, too soon.

Fighting with the attrition option is already giving some interesting
surprises,
where in the standard schemes things are all washed up and decided,
now there are much more confusing signals to interpret, and the
decision point is much harder to ajudge with clarity...
(Both sides have room to convince themselves that they are onto a winner).
