One of the 'problems' some perceived in the board game was the Guys on
the strategic offensive, with a good crt perforce reduced the guys on
the defensive (with a poor crt) into seeming impotence.

The French and Soviets in those moments felt they were utterly passive
and almost spectators...

In fact this was far from the case, manoeuvre and positioning was all,
forcing your opponent into less optimum paths thereby increasing his
casualty rates.

But since he was rolling the die, and you weren't,
the traffic could seem all one way.

With this new option, sutable tuned as you 'feel' the effects ought to
apply,
it opens the door to what feels like a much less passive role.
indeed 'rolling with thepunches' and positioning your reserves correctly,
can open the door to surprisingly agressive counterplay by the
seemingly weaker commander,
in turn this allows you to seriously disrupt your opponents carefully
laid plans

These leads to messy situations and a lot of 'scrapping',
so the defender, having a lot more opportunity to interact,
on thedefensive feels he is getting a fairer share of the "action"
instead of feeling like a punchbag, on occasion.
