[WarInEur] On German production for invading Russia

I think you made my point. If the production system was properly designed
you shouldn't have to sacrifice the U-boat campaign or Nort Africa. The
fact that it doesn't indicates that there is a design flaw, which we with
much greater playtesting experience and access to a lot more computer
support and detect and analize.
I'd like to see all three sides production systems analized and fixed if
necessary. The Allies should be able to build the stuff on their
reinforcement track if they want. The same for the Soviets. Their peace
time production should allow them to produce the 1941 OOB. If it does that
then I could care less about what type of units they build.
I'd be willing to allow the Soviet player to exchange 3x1-4 for a 4-4 and
2x2-5 + 1x3-5 for a 7-5 Soviet mech corps as part of their setup without
cost. It will give them the punch for localized counterattacks in early 41,
but also present them with the delima of having to break some of them down
in order to cover the frontage.
I also have been doing some comparisons with the OOB listings in the WitE
booklet with what we now know was the actual OOB in 41. While there are
some minor descripancies IE 39 rifle in one source versus 49 rifle in
another, it also appears that about 10% of the Soviet units are omitted from
SPI's OOB information. So those who have argued that the Soviet forces are
under represented have a valid argument. I'd be willing to fix this and we
can through custom scenarios in CWIE2.
I'd like to modify the air war system so that the numbers don't get out of
hand for either side. I suggested forced combat to produce the necessary
attrition in an earlier email, but actually increasing the production costs
might be a far simplier way of keeping the numbers reasonable. Or maybe a
sequential build pool where the first 40 AP are 15 arms points, the next 40
cost 20 Arms points, and so on. This would allow the opening years
production to work as they do now, but make it harder and harder to build
out the box.
