I would tend to agee that air supply should be limited to at most
defense supply to give units full combat defense power. And the
attrition for ATPs should be large for the efforts. The germans supplied
some of their pockets early on but it cost them aircraft.
I would hate to see units on the offensive supplied by air, it just
doesn't seem right to me that air assets would be wasted in this manor.
In a crisis situation where your troops need help and are in danger of
elimination, but otherwise the ability to supply by air was really
limited and the air was needed for other uses.
