Can someone please tell me what happened to our friend Steve???

Steve had a stroke of some type while asleep, because he was not aware of it when he awoke and attempted to get out of bed. Due to partial paralysis he was not able to stop himself from falling and hit his head when he fell. He started to feel better as the day went on and engaged in a video chat with Jerry.

Jerry noticed a large bruise on his face and asked him what had happened. Steve explained that he had picked up a bug and lost his balance getting out of bed that morning. Jerry noticed other tell tale signs and urged Steve to get to a doctor. Steve was persuaded to call his Dad to drive him to the hospital. That was the last we heard from him for over a week.

Finally, a group of us figured out where in Wales he lived and Karl was able to Google up two phone numbers. I was unsuccessful in making contact, but Karl persisted and eventually learned from his sister-in-law that Steve had suffered a "heavy" stroke. (Is "heavy" British for what an American would call a massive stroke?) I digress.

Steve was hospitalized for at least a week and then was in rehabilitation for a while. I am unclear as to whether or not he is home yet. He has answered a couple of my emails sent prior to the stroke during the last week. He wrote that "the nurses had grounded him for a while" and that it was a "damned close thing" but "it took more than a knock on the head to take him out." He noted that he was "feeling okay" and that "he was getting around better, but alas it would be a while before his typing returned to normal."

Personally I think Jerry saved his life by talking him in to seeing a doctor. If not, he certainly helped minimize the damage. Anyway that's about all I know for now. Like the rest of you I can only hope and pray that Steve makes a full recovery.

If any one else wants to correct anything I have written or add anything I have omitted jump in.
