In terms of options chosen this seems to be producing a good 
historicalish output in the battle for france

in terms of balance of play, well that may be a different subject.

desperate defenders of the allied line

Allied reinforcements will arrive, under attrition, but be woefully 
inadequate in effectiveness to stop the rampaging Panzers.

Husbanding them until they can start to get their act together will be a 
delicate and finely balanced task...

My erstwhile opponent has bitten deep into the line, and is pushing hard 
at the green fields beyond.

Time is the only arbiter as to whether he has over-committed himself and 
the weakening force of the onrush is finally dammed by the newbies 
hastening to the battlefront.
