Well it does tend to "explain" in wargamers terms why you just don't go on
"the Grand European tour". You do it in the classic game "simply because you
can", i.e. there is no real downside, except time, and what is the issue there
when your units are simply sitting there doing nothing?
The Yugoslavian adventure is more than just time, the Panzers need
maintenance and refit time after it, so it is a potential brake on operations if you
consider Barbarossa, and can have that key effect that skews what you do in
Russia. Coupled with the Kiev diversion, the extra mileage on your machines does
have an effect, as in fact many say was a key issue in real life.
