Nor for mine; my 2004 move landed me near a great game store with a bunch of great
players, but in-store play occurs at bad times for me (weekend days, when I have
usually been hard at work remodeling my house) and I have nowhere at home to play,
much less to leave a game set up.
Thus my 2006 wargames were both played far from here, with members of my old group,
when business travel took me back to Northern Virginia.
April's game was _Command at Sea_, WW II naval minis. The scenario was Guadalcanal's
Friday the 13th, the one with the battleships.
October's game was _Wings of War_, an innovative system that uses cards, but not as a
card game. Players secretly select and order three maneuver cards from a deck of
possible maneuvers (i.e., there is no random dealing of "hands"); then the cards are
played, as templates for the maneuvers, and after each airplane has moved under the
influence of one card, shooting can take place. Different airplane types use
different decks of cards, and are thus characterized without finicky maneuver systems
as in Wings (which I also like).
