Hehe, my British are actually PINK, not red, and the Turks and Russians are 
both the same shade of Green, except for the Peckiluan counter which is a 
sort of yellow with a bit of green thrown in for flavoring.  The French and 
Prussians (especially the variant Prussians and French) are 
indistinguishable except that the "sash" across the French is PINK and the 
Prussians Purple.  The background colors are precisely the same.

I once wrote to Avalon Hill about this and they offered to replace the 
counters, but before I could get them sent in AH ceased to exist.

I ran across some expansions that had been on the net some years ago (close 
to 10 years now) that I took off a server at Indiana University 
(Bloomington) [ they're not there now - at least I didn't find them].  Those 
expansions were for the 7 Years War, the Great Northern War, several for the 
French Revolutionary Wars, and oddly one for the Franco-Prussian War of 
1870.

All of those variants came with their own leader counters and ratings. 
Seems to me prime ground for some of my counter sets :)
