Hi Mircea,
I really had no idea what Asperger's Syndrome was, and decided to look it up.
Selected quotes from the wikipedia definition:
"...characterized by deficiencies in social and communication skills..."
-- Hmm, sounds like a typical wargamer to me. Welcome Mircea!
"...IQ tests may show normal or superior intelligence..."
-- Well, we all like to think so, and spend an inordinate amount of our time
trying to convince each other, so again, welcome to the club!
"...partly to the use of differing sets of diagnostic criteria..."
-- That certainly applies to the art of wargaming design....
"...obsessive or repetitive routines..."
-- How many times are we going to go through the entire modifier list before
rolling on the CRT?
"Many wargamers can adopt strategies for coping and do lead fulfilling lives"
-- OK, I slightly misquoted that last one. But we all do the best we can...
(Please do not misunderstand. In no way do I intend to be disrespectful.
Quite the opposite. I've enjoyed your posts since you joined and followed
your attempts to get wargaming going in Romania with interest. When a friend
"comes out" it seems most respectful to acknowledge his condition and courage,
and I do. I hope you find the above humorous. My intention is to honor you
by learning a little about AS. I hope I succeeded. Best wishes to you as
well my friend)
