USENET is free, but probably few people are reading these days. I
think the most effective places are here, the boardwargaming list, the
Geek (create a geeklist), and of course consimworld, which has a forum
specifically for that purpose. I think I also used a marketplace
mailing list that's an offshoot of spielfrieks.
I only ever had 1 item that got no bids, and that one was a real dog
so I got what I deserved. :-)
It can be very effective to bundle up a group of logically related
low-value items into a lot, and sell them together on Ebay. You're
more likely to get a decent bid, and you only have to handle one
moderate-size transaction instead of several annoyingly small ones.
