Howdy Gents,

April 1st is right around the corner and I've been working on the coming
issue.

This issue currently has 48 pages completed and is well on its way to 60+
pages.

We have a sort of travelogue to kick things off. One of our subscribers was
the ONLY American permitted aboard the HMS Victory on Trafalgar Day 2005. He
recounts his adventures aboard her that day and in the anxious days leading
to the 200th celebration of that momentous day.

Following that is a pair of Airforce/Dauntless Scenario sets. I finally
finished the Meteors Over Korea article and it includes new AF/DL Aircraft
Data Sheets for the Meteor Mk VIII, Mig 15, and Panther F9F. Also, Martin
Lopez, has sent some Midway scenarios all the way from his homeland in
Argentina.

There are the two standard Gunslinger Showdown Analysis articles. Showdown 9
and 15 are featured. Showdown 15 recounts the adventures of Ben Thompson and
a friend of his known to history only as Buckskin Sam. Surrounded by Indians
on the Concho River in Texas, the men shot it out and escaped. This Showdown
reminds me of many Panzer Leader scenarios in which the qualitatively
superior Germans Tigers (Thompson and Sam) are surrounded by hordes of
American Shermans (the Indians). Thompson and Sam are well known weapons
experts and face a multitude of Indians indifferently armed and lacking any
real skill with them. Can they kill them all before they are swamped?

Alan Arvold has written an Arab-Israeli Wars article, Scenarios for the
1973 War in the Golan Heights.

I've an article by misters Lawler and Gordon based upon Columbia's Liberty.
Their previous scholarship on the Galvez Campaigns (Spanish involvement in
the American Revolution) is transported from 1776 to Liberty. The use of
this article depends upon the arrival of suitable graphics from Grand
Dalgleish of Columbia Games who has promised to make some map panels and
stickers for the piece.

There's also a pair of new US Guided Missile Cruiser cards for the game Cold
War Naval Battles (Relative Range & 3W). Mr. Charles Tarrant, being a fan of
the game, downloaded the 2000 Ship Expansion I made for these games and sent
along his two favorite cards. The old us Albany class CG's were a little
before the timeline of these games. The last Albany class was decomissioned
in 1991, the first in 1975. So, there are cards for the Chicago and Albany
inserted into this issue.

I've been promised an Age of Reason article, we'll see if it arrives in
time.

I'm leaning toward an Marshal Bessieres for this issue's installment of
Napoleon's Marshals. I'll be working on that article over the next couple
of weeks.

As always, I'm looking for articles and wish to encourage people who have
never before picked up the pen to take it up and make a first effort. There
was a first time for everyone who ever wrote. Just don't think about, "is it
good enough" and simply write upon a topic for which you have a passion.
Passion translates into human interest. You can read an article and see that
an author has a real love for the subject, and that above all other things
makes an article good. If you don't write for Old Soldiers, well, that's ok
too. But, do try. It's good for the soul and good for the hobby.

Publication Date for this issue is 1 April, but unlike so many other wargame
magazines I like to actually BEAT my self-imposed deadline by at least 2
weeks. That's sure better than so many other magazines that are months even
years behind.

Take Care,
Tom Cundiff
