Saturday before Christmas saw an "AH classic" day at Games Plus in Mt.
Prospect, IL, just outside Chicago.
I was very glad to have the chance to play a game or two, and I
even went 1-1!
I played my first ever wargame, AH's Napoleon. I got this in 1975, and yes,
it's the
same copy. In fact, the pennies I used to mark battles and the turns are
there,
1973 and before dates :)
As the French, I rather botched trying to get the central position. Even
so, I was able
to launch an attack that could have won the game. Problem was, I had to win
fast, and
that didnt' happen.
Each turn more and more Green Prussian blocks arrived, and while the English
army was beaten, they delayed long enough for the Prussians to arrive and
end up beating the French, giving the Allies the win.
Next, in Hunt for the Bismark, I cunningly guided the German BB to a convoy,
sank a WWI BC, and barely snuck into a French port. But that was enough to
win!
Just a great day, and a nice start to my holiday season!
Regards, Pat
