"Bruce Humphrey" laments:

1) Perhaps he was trying to establish a moral basis (or whatever you
would call it) for breaking the group's topic without even an "OT"
subject line. Frankly, I'm getting annoyed at his frequent adverts
to the group for his magazine. At least he could preface them with
an "ADVERTISEMENT" subject line.

In my technical lists that I belong to, I see members use a non-standard <plug> </plug> tags.

Yes they are not really html, but most list-members get the idea.

Example, on a computer list, there is a reseller that participates in dialog, but about once a month he sends a <plug> for his latest offer. It is a 600 member list, but I haven't seen anyone complain in the 12 years or so I've belonged. (Either that or I don't remember due to my age.)
