I can understand the desire to want to hold a game in your hands
before buying, and the instant gratification from walking out of a
store a short while after you first found it on the store's shelf.
But really, you will do much better both in terms of what you can find
and what it costs if you shop for out-of-print games online.
Try Ebay, the auction folders on consimworld, and boardgamegeek.com
There is also Michael Dean's Fine Games, which has a big selection but
is more expensive.
As for new, in-print games like Settlers or Knizia's "Lord of the
Rings" or Columbia's "Hammer of the Scots", the only store I know of
that's nearby is Compleat Strategist in King of Prussia, PA. I haven't
been to that location myself, but I have been to the one in Manhattan
and it's a very good store.
Though if price is a big issue, you'll still do a lot better (30+%
savings) ordering new games from online stores, such as
bouldergames.com , houghthammer.com , or funagain.com
