I can find plenty of reviews of the new games that matter to me
without using this or any other mailing list.

I think most such newbies are more likely to land up at CSW or
boardgamegeek than on any Yahoo group--and those are reasonably good
places for a newbie to land.

That's more a public nuisance than a public service IMHO....
In any case, the fracturing of the discussion is not caused by other
mailing lists, it's caused by the Web-based forums at CSW and the
Geek. For that matter, I don't even regard it as "fracturing", I
regard it as people voting with their keyboards and participating only
in those forums that best suit their needs.
