(Also sent to consim, knowing I'll never see a reply)

(And other little-used yahoogroups, a message now and then to keep those
lists alive.)

On a lark one day I taught and played a game of PanzerBlitz Scenario 6,
a German Mobile defense of the Dneiper River during a retreat...

Soviet victory conditions were to simply make it across the board to the
other side without significant loss. The German least victory condition
were to destroy as many Soviet units as friendly units lost.

Jacob played the Soviets what would be normally considered an
overwhelming attack with a whole Tank Corps (18 Tank Companies + some
Infantry) vs. remnants of a German Tank Regiment, an Anti-Tank Battalion
and a Flak Battalion (3 Tank Platoons and some guns.)

Given the superior range and mobility of the German units, the Soviets
broke like waves against a cliff and never made it past one-third of the
way across. Granted the terrain was against the Soviets, exposing them
as they came out of the woods.

It was also a great learning experience for a first time player. Since
usually new players like to have a lot of tanks on their side.

A decisive victory was granted the Germans as they destroyed three times
as many units as were lost.
