Well, isn't that the purpose of introductory? To introduce people into the
hobby?
I suppose you could say games like Road to Moscow, or the new Arnhem free game
from MMP really serve no other purpose and must be judged in terms of
introducing people, while games like Midway might be reasonably satisfying in
their own right, but in that case I guess I'd make a distinctin between
"simple" and introductory.
Mission Command: Sea is a simple game that is fairly enjoyable if taken for
what it is, and the publisher has no real interest in wargaming per se.
Therefore it is no mark against it that it uses a completely unique system
that does virtually nothing to introduce concepts used in more complex games.
But AH states this is an introductory game, the idea was to hook people on the
hobby and get them used to certain conventions and ideas that re-appear in
their other games.
Maybe I'm missing something?
